Letter Title: “World Food Day“
As World Food Day comes around, it is essential to understand what its purpose is. World Food Day is a worldwide celebration to promote awareness and action for people who suffer from hunger and to promote adequate nutrition for all. Each year, marathons among many other activities take place to celebrate World Food Day.
In the Holy Quran, God says, “And they feed, for love of Him, the poor, the orphan, and the prisoner, saying, ‘We feed you for Allah’s pleasure only. We desire no reward nor thanks from you” (76:9-10).
Prophet Muhammad encouraged Muslims to treat the poor kindly and to help them with alms. He further stated, “Do you love your Creator? Then love your fellow beings first.”
His Holiness, Mirza Masroor Ahmad, worldwide spiritual leader of Ahmadiyya Muslim Community said that people “fail to realize how superficial they have become” for others. Being cognizant and supporting those unfortunate can bring immense changes. Let’s take action to end poverty worldwide!

On any given day, millions of people worldwide do not have enough food to eat. Feeding the hungry and helping the poor is an integral part of the Islamic faith – and every year, Muslims are required to pay an obligatory charity tax (Zakah) to help those in need. #WorldFoodDay pic.twitter.com/QaVVvhXV1W
