Letter Title: “Is Islam against Science?“
Did you know that Islam is not anti-science, rather it encourages scientific investigation by its followers at all times emphasizing the fundamental scientific principle that nothing that exists has been brought into being in vain and without purpose? In the Holy Quran, God states, “In the creation of the heavens and the earth and in the alternation of the night and the day there are indeed Signs for men of understanding; Those who remember God while standing, sitting, and lying on their sides, and ponder over the creation of the heavens and the earth: ‘Our Lord, Thou hast not created this in vain; nay, Holy art Thou; save us, then, from the punishment of the Fire” (3:191-192). Clearly, Islam encourages its adherents to pursue science and to ponder over the creation, and try to discover the truths that lie hidden behind and beneath what we observe for the express purpose of acquiring true and perfect faith in the existence of God.
In fact, Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings of God be on him) said, “Seeking of knowledge is obligatory upon every Muslim man and woman.” This is often cited to show the equal treatment Islam gives to men and women but it also shows that Islam requires everyone to strive to acquire knowledge.
In his speech at the Nobel Banquet, December 10, 1979, Professor Dr. Abdus Salam stated: “In the Holy Book of Islam, Allah says, “Thou seest not, in the creation of the All-merciful any imperfection, Return thy gaze, seest thou any fissure. Then Return thy gaze, again and again. Thy gaze, Comes back to thee dazzled, aweary.” This in effect is the faith of all physicists; the deeper we seek, the more is our wonder excited, the more is the dazzlement for our gaze.”

Contrary to popular belief #Islam and #science go hand in hand. Hundreds of verses of the Quran invite its readers to think about the signs of God in the universe and within themselves, and to understand His illustrious presence. pic.twitter.com/QpVE3q0Gn3
