Letter Title: “Independence Day“
Fourth of July commemorates the independence of the United States. It is also the day that the Declaration of Independence, written by Thomas Jefferson, was adopted in 1776. Every year, people take part in parades and fireworks to celebrate Independence Day.
The Holy Quran teaches, “O ye who believe! obey Allah, and obey His Messenger and those who are in authority among you” (Ch 4 v 60). This means that a Muslim is required by their faith to obey the authorities where they live. Also, the Holy Prophet Muhammad, peace and blessings of Allah be on him, stated that love for one’s country is part of a Muslim’s faith. Thus, as an Ahmadi Muslim, it is not only my duty to abide by the laws of the land but to do with love and devotion. As a member of Ahmadiyya Muslim Community, Independence Day is very important to me, and I am fortunate to enjoy my religious freedom. To show our gratitude, every year members of Ahmadiyya Muslim Community partake in Independence Day parades to show pride in their homeland as part of the nationwide “Muslims for Loyalty” campaign. May God bless the United States of America!
