June 1st – June 7th – “Islam – The Solution to Racial Injustice”
Letter to the Editor
Letter Title: “Islam – The Solution to Racial Injustice”
George Floyd’s inhumane murder ignites concern over the abuse of power by some law enforcement against my African American siblings. We’re finally realizing that the real issue is rooted in racial injustice and systemic discrimination.
As an Ahmadi Muslim I condemn racism, hatred, and injustice in all it’s ugly forms. I follow and advocate the teachings of true Islam’s compassion and sympathy for all humans as one family. True Islam eliminates fabricated boundaries that we’ve erected creating division and enmity and has been bridging gaps for 1400 years.
“And among His Signs is the creation of the heavens and the earth, and the diversity of your tongues and colours. In that surely are Signs for those who possess knowledge” Qur’an 30:23.
In his farewell sermon, Prophet Muhammad said, “Allah has made you brethren one to another, so be not divided. An Arab has no preference over a non-Arab, nor a non-Arab over an Arab; nor is a white one to be preferred to a dark one, nor a dark one to a white one.”
We encourage policymakers and leaders of our country to swiftly and sensibly implement preventative laws and policies which will proactively protect the lives and welfare of all people, irrespective of their color, creed, or nationality. Better yet, each American should reflect inwardly on the moral culture we live by in our own homes and communities. If we adopted Islamic guidance then we would repel evil with what is best and not let anyone’s injustice incite us to be unjust.

#ProphetMuhammad pbuh persistently and actively rejected xenophobic and anti-black rhetoric which is best illustrated in his last sermon some 1400 years ago. These teachings are universal and timeless. #racism #BlackLivesMatter #mondaythoughts pic.twitter.com/cnuZxeJG61
